If you find that a particular login method isn’t what you want for your team, or if your company security requirements change, you can change your login method anytime.
Here's how to switch between the available options.
When you might want to change login methods
Your company enforces Two-Factor Authentication.
You start using new accounting software.
You want more or less convenience vs security.
Your current method stops working properly.
You're sharing devices and need more security.
To change your login method
Log into your account using your current method.
Click on your profile (initials in bottom-left corner).
Select Personal settings
Go to Login and security
Click Change method
Choose your new preferred method.
Available methods for switching
Password – Traditional username/password with optional 2FA.
Email me a code – Receive a 6-digit code via email each time you log in.
Important considerations when switching
Switching TO password login:
You'll need to create a password (minimum 10 characters).
Can enable Two-Factor Authentication for extra security.
Gives you the most control over your credentials.
Works offline once you're logged in.
Switching FROM password TO email codes:
Warning: If you have 2FA enabled, it will be disabled.
You'll receive a code via email each time you log in.
More convenient but less secure than password + 2FA.
Requires email access every time.
What happens immediately after switching
Changes take effect right away.
You can test your new method without logging out.
The previous method stops working immediately.
You'll need new credentials for next login.
If your company enforces 2FA
You'll be forced to use password login.
The email code method won't be available.
Even external logins will require Apron's 2FA.
You can't switch to email codes while 2FA enforcement is active.
Troubleshooting method changes
External login doesn't work – Check that the email matches exactly.
Forgot new password – Use the password reset option on the login screen.
2FA setup fails – Contact support for assistance.
Security recommendations
Apron’s top picks.
Most secure – Password + Two-Factor Authentication.
Most convenient – Google or accounting software login.
Balanced – Password without 2FA for low-risk users.
Least secure – Email codes (but still better than no security).
