Need to disconnect your Apron account from an accounting practice? The process is straightforward and can be done in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Ensure that you have Admin permissions

Before you can disconnect your account from a practice, make sure you have the Admin role assigned to you. Every account must have at least one Admin, so if you're not already an Admin, request this role from another Admin in your practice.

Step 2: Remove practice members

Once you have Admin permissions, navigate to the Members section within your account settings. Here, you can remove each member of the practice individually. After all practice members have been removed, your Apron account will be automatically disconnected from the practice.

Using Apron without a practice

After disconnecting from a practice, you can continue using Apron as a standalone account. Many businesses use Apron directly without being connected to a practice.

If your practice was previously set up to be billed on your behalf, you'll need to set up your own billing details and payment method to continue using Apron. You can do this in the Billing section of your account settings - check the details in our article: How does Apron charge for a subscription?.

Reconnecting with a new practice

You can connect your Apron account with a new practice at any time. To do this, go to the Members section within your account settings and invite a member of the new practice.

When adding the new member, simply indicate whether the person you're inviting is an Accountant or Bookkeeper (to do that, tick the box 'This person is an external Accountant/Bookkeeper' underneath their email address). If they're already using Apron, their Practice should be connected straight away.

If they're not yet connected to Apron, they'll receive an invitation that will take them through a few simple steps to set up a Practice Account which, once created, will be linked with your account.
