How Apron's payment reminder system works.

Whenever a payrun requires approval or payment by someone else, Apron automatically sends reminders to keep payments moving smoothly. Here's how our reminder system works and when people get notified.

Notifications and reminders

Apron automatically sends email notifications to keep your approval workflows moving smoothly.

Immediate notifications

Sent right away when it's someone's turn to act:

  • When a payment is created and sent for approval

  • After an approver gives approval and it moves to the next person

  • When approval workflows are changed and someone new needs to act

Automatic reminders

Help ensure nothing gets missed:

  • A weekly reminder is sent every Monday for any outstanding pending payments

  • For scheduled payroll payments, we’ll send a reminder 2 days before the scheduled date if it still hasn’t been funded

For example, if your payroll is scheduled for Friday, and we haven't received funds yet, you'll get a reminder on Wednesday morning.

We won't send duplicate reminders if someone was already emailed within the last 24 hours.
