What is Apron Rewards?
Apron Rewards turns your business spending into points you can use for flights, hotels, cruises, and experiences with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Red, or redeem for cash and Amazon vouchers. You earn on the payments you make on Apron and on every Apron Card transaction. Rewards on payments are new: this is a category of business spending that's never earned them before.
How to earn points
There are two ways to earn.
Make payments on Apron
Payments Rewards turns the payments you make on Apron, like supplier invoices and payroll, into a way to earn flights, hotels, and other Virgin rewards. It works differently from card rewards: you decide whether to earn rewards on each payment, rather than earning automatically on everything.
Earn 1 point per £1 of your payrun when you opt in. Apron shows you the points you'd earn and the rewards fee upfront, so you can decide whether it's worth it for that payment.
The current rewards fee is 1.6% of the payrun total. This is an introductory rate and may change in future. We'll let you know in advance if pricing changes.
A few things to know:
Points are calculated on the payrun total, before any card processing fees
Points are credited when onwards payments are made: straight away if you're paying immediately, or on the scheduled date if you've scheduled the payrun
If a payment later fails or is refunded, the points stay with you. The rewards fee isn't refunded
Payments Rewards is available on payruns funded in GBP, regardless of whether your supplier is paid in GBP, EUR, USD, or another currency
If you fund the payrun with your own credit card, the card processing fee applies on top of the rewards fee, and you'll earn rewards from both Apron and your card programme on the same spend
Spend with your Apron Card
Apron Card earns you up to 1% cash back on every transaction, with no fees applied. Each Apron Point you earn is worth 1p:
1 point per £1 on selected categories (1% back): software, online advertising, accounting services, taxis and rideshare, and railways
1 point per £2 on all other eligible spending (0.5% back)
There's no limit to how many points you can accumulate. Points can be redeemed as cash or Amazon vouchers, or transferred to Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Red at a 1:1 rate.
Some transactions aren't eligible, including ATM withdrawals, online money transfers, cryptocurrency purchases, and gambling. Refer to the terms and conditions for full details on qualifying spend.
Get a £100 welcome bonus with Apron Card
New Apron Card customers earn an extra 10,000 points as a welcome bonus once they spend £2,000 within the first two months of activating the card.
How it works:
Activate your Apron Card and use it for your business expenses as normal
If your total card spending reaches £2,000 within two months of activation, the 10,000 bonus points are credited automatically
Standard rewards continue to apply to every eligible transaction. The bonus is separate from, and additional to, the points you'd normally earn
For complete details about eligibility and terms, see the Apron Card welcome bonus terms and conditions.
Who can do what
Apron Rewards uses two separate balances. Each is governed by who's allowed to earn and redeem from it.
Personal points (Payments Rewards). Earned by the team member who made the payment. Anyone at your company with permission to make payments on Apron can earn and redeem from their own personal balance. Admins have payment permissions by default, and team members on custom roles can have them too.
Company points (Apron Card). Earned by the company on every Apron Card transaction. Any Admin or Owner can redeem the company balance on behalf of the business.
Practice members are not eligible. Members of connected accounting or bookkeeping practices can't earn personal points and can't redeem from either balance.
When you try to remove a team member who has a personal points balance, Apron will flag it at the moment of removal so the points don't go missing. You can either ask the team member to redeem their points before they're removed, or contact support if you'd like us to help transfer the balance across manually. If a member is removed without either, their unredeemed personal points roll into the company balance, and they lose access.
What are your points worth?
Every Apron Point is worth 1p when redeemed as cash to your Apron Wallet or as an Amazon gift card. Transferred to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club or Virgin Red at a 1:1 rate, points unlock flights, hotels, cruises, and other Virgin rewards. In practice, Virgin redemptions typically deliver well above the cash-equivalent value of your points.
The exact value of a Virgin redemption depends on the route, dates, cabin class, and what you redeem for. You'll usually get the best value by booking further in advance and travelling off-peak. For up-to-date pricing on flights, use the reward flight finder on the Virgin Atlantic website.
When do points appear?
Payments Rewards. Points appear when onwards payments are made. If you're paying immediately, you'll see them straight away. For scheduled payruns, you'll see them on the scheduled date. Once credited, points stay with you even if a payment later fails or is refunded.
Apron Card. Points are credited once the transaction clears, typically the next business day.
Your points don't expire as long as your Apron account is active, so you can save them up and redeem whenever you're ready. If we ever modify or end the programme, you'll have 90 days to redeem any remaining points.
For full programme terms, see the Apron Card Rewards Programme and Apron Payments Rewards Programme terms and conditions.
