With Apron Card, you can issue multiple expense cards to employees so that they can pay for things that help the business. You stay in full control as an Admin: Set custom spending limits, track all transactions in one place, and manage everything in the Apron app.

What is Apron Card?

Apron Card works like a prepaid card. You'll need to add money to your dedicated account (your Apron Wallet) before the cards can be used.

Cards are available to companies on any Apron subscription plan. The number of cards your company can create depends on your subscription plan (up to 10 virtual cards on our Go plan and an unlimited number on our Essential or Pro plans).

To start using Apron Card, your company account needs to be verified. If you haven't completed verification yet, you'll need to do this first.

Where you can use Apron Card

You can use Apron Card for both UK and international payments at any merchant which accepts Mastercard.

You can spend in both GBP and foreign currencies. When a payment is made in a foreign currency, we convert using the Mastercard exchange rate, and we don't charge any extra fees.

You can check the current Mastercard rates on their official website.

Using Apron Card: How it works

If you're an Admin or Owner, you can create and manage Apron Card directly in the Apron mobile app. If you haven't already, download our app from Google Play or the App Store.

Key points about how cards work:

  • Cards are ready to use as soon as you top up your Apron Wallet.

  • You only need to top up once – all cards share the same Wallet balance.

  • Funds stay in your Wallet until they're used.

Viewing card transactions

You can view all Wallet activity right from the Home screen of the Apron mobile app – including top-ups, card payments, refunds, and other activity (like card verifications).

Using Apron on a desktop? You can see all card transactions under the Expenses tab for your company.

Tap any transaction to see more details.

Permission levels:

  • If you're an Owner, Admin or a Bookkeeper, you'll see the full list of company Wallet transactions.

  • If you're an Employee, you'll only see your own transactions.

To filter by card:

  1. Tap the Card button at the top of the transaction list.

  2. Select one or more cards.

  3. Tap Apply to view only the relevant transactions.
