Getting a physical Apron Card is straightforward. You'll order it through the app, we'll deliver it within 9 business days, and you can start using it in its virtual version straight away.
How to order your physical card
Access the Cards section in the Apron mobile app, or go to Expenses > Cards on desktop. Then:
For your first card – Tap the Get card banner
For additional cards – Tap Create in the top-right corner
Once you've started the process:
Choose Physical card – Select this option from the card types available
Select the cardholder – Choose from the list of people linked to your company in Apron. If someone's missing from the list, tap Add member to include them
Provide the delivery address – If you're ordering for yourself, you'll enter the address now. When ordering for another team member, they'll receive an email and push notification asking them to provide their address. The address must be within the UK
Confirm and pay the £5 card fee – The fee's taken from your Apron Wallet. If you're ordering your first card, you can go into negative balance and we'll collect the funds when you next top up your Wallet. Learn more in our article: Add money to your Apron Wallet.
Your card should arrive within 10 business days. While you wait, you can add the card to Google Pay or Apple Wallet and start paying online using card details straight away.
What name appears on the card? The physical card displays your legal business name.
You can order up to 200 physical cards per company.
Activating your physical card when spending in store
To activate your card, make your first transaction via Chip and PIN transactions. You'll find your PIN by going to the Cards section in the mobile app, selecting your card and going to ‘Manage’ - ‘Remind PIN’.
PIN is provided by Apron, and you can change it at selected ATMs once your card's activated.
After the first successful transaction with Chip and PIN, you can also pay in store by tapping your card.
Card fees and transaction types
Card issuance: £5 per card
ATM withdrawals: 0.2% fee plus any fees charged by the ATM operator
Your physical card supports:
Chip and PIN payments
Contactless payments (PIN required after £100 cumulative spend)
Magnetic stripe payments
Offline transactions
If your card doesn't arrive or needs replacing
If your card hasn't arrived within 10 business days, get in touch with our support team and we'll help you out.
If your card's lost, stolen, or damaged, contact us and we can freeze and terminate the card. You can then order a new card following the same process above.
