Creating an Apron Card is easy and can be done directly through the mobile app. Here's everything you need to know about setting up cards for your team.
Who can create a card
If you're an Admin or Owner of a company, you can create a new Apron Card directly in the Apron mobile app under the Cards tab.
Key limits and permissions:
The number of cards your company can create depends on your subscription plan (up to 10 virtual cards on the Go plan and unlimited number on the Essential or Pro plans).
A company member can be the cardholder for more than one card.
Anyone in the company can be a cardholder, no matter their role (Employee, Custom, Bookkeeper, Admin, Owner).
How to create a card
The steps differ slightly depending on whether you're creating your first card or adding another one:
First card – Tap the Get card banner
Additional cards – Tap Create in the top-right corner
Once you've started:
Choose the card type – Currently, only virtual cards are available. We're working on enabling physical cards soon.
Select the cardholder – Choose from the list of people linked to your company in Apron.
If someone isn't showing in the list, you can add them by tapping the Add member button.
Before someone can be selected as a cardholder
They must have their name added to Apron, and the name must meet card requirements. For example, it shouldn't:
Be too long
Include special characters
Include non-Latin letters
The name can be updated in the desktop version of Apron.
Card details
Once you’ve created your Apron Card, there are a few things you’ll need to do.
Label the card – This is how it appears in the app. You can use a label like 'Eric's card' or something like 'Marketing expenses'.
Set limits (optional) – You can add daily, weekly, monthly or one-time limits in GBP. Or leave these blank if you don't want to set any.
When everything's set, tap Create card.
After the card is created
The new card will appear in the list of company cards in the app.
The cardholder can view their card in the Cards section of their Apron app and add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay.
The card is ready to use straight away –just make sure your Apron Wallet has adequate funds available.
