While most banks do not automatically pre-select the type of payment for fund release, HSBC Corporate defaults to processing payments over £100,000 as CHAPS bank transfers.

Unfortunately, because we do not support incoming CHAPS payments, these transfers sent to Apron are returned to the sending bank.

The funds are typically returned within 2-3 business days, but it can take up to 5 business days.

How to avoid this issue

If you are a client of HSBC Corporate and want to avoid this, follow these steps:

1. When choosing the option to "Pay via Bank Transfer" or "Authenticate with HSBC" in Apron, ensure that in the HSBC Online Banking portal, you select "Single Payment - Faster Payment" as the payment type.

By doing so, you can avoid delays and ensure your payment is processed smoothly.

Then choose that you want to 'Send this payment' 'As soon as possible'.

This ensures that we will receive the payment (we also accept Faster Payments) and will be able to process payouts to recipients.

If you notice that your payment has not arrived within a few hours after sending it to us, please contact us with a PDF transfer confirmation via in-app chat or via email: [email protected].
