You can upload a file containing multiple documents using any of our standard upload methods. For all available upload options, see our article: See all of the methods for uploading bills and documents.

Apron will identify multiple documents within the file and automatically split them into individual bills, receipts, or credit notes. You can also choose to keep them together or split every single page.

Choose how to split a file

When you upload directly to Apron, you can choose how you'd like the file to be split. Other upload methods – such as email forwarding, WhatsApp or the Apron mobile app – always use auto-detect (as explained below).

To get started

  1. Click Upload documents

  2. Select your file

  3. Choose one of the three options below:

  • Auto-detect when to split (default) – Apron identifies separate documents and automatically splits them into individual bills, receipts or credit notes. Split items are marked with a scissors icon in the table and the original file is archived.

  • Split by page – Every page becomes a separate document.

  • Do not split – Multi-page files remain intact and aren’t split into separate documents.

Fix an incorrect split

If a document was split incorrectly, you can restore the original file or split it manually.

Restore the original file

From the document review window, click Restore original document to undo the split.

Split the file manually

Use the Split option in the menu (three dots) next to the uploaded file.
