We sincerely apologise that AMEX card payments in Apron will be temporarily unavailable.

We know that many customers rely on American Express (AMEX) card payments to earn valuable rewards on business spend, while others use it to hold onto cash longer. Here's what you can expect from Apron going forward.

Why this is happening

We have been working closely with AMEX to make sure we proactively comply with all of their requirements, to ensure a smooth and continued service for our shared customers. Recently, however, AMEX requested that, until they have completed their review process, we disable the service.

This is not a permanent change

We want to be absolutely clear, this is not a shift away from supporting AMEX. Restoring this option is a priority, we are long into an ongoing joint process with AMEX to enable this service, and will provide you with updates as soon as we have more information.

Our commitment to you and to high-value rewards

If you use AMEX with Apron, it’s because maximising business rewards is important to you. That’s something we deeply understand and remain committed to facilitating.

Alongside restoring AMEX, we’re continuing to invest in delivering industry-leading rewards for your business spending:

  • In October, we launched one of the industry's highest-yielding corporate expense cards, offering up to 1% unlimited cashback – redeemable as cash, gift cards, and soon air miles

  • In Q1, we’re going even further extending Apron Rewards to Bill Pay, letting you earn up to 1.5 miles per pound spent

What you can do today

While AMEX is temporarily paused, all other payment methods remain fully available including:

  • Visa and Mastercard, now at a reduced rate of 2.5%

  • Pay by bank, where no transaction fees apply
